Current research interests
The Technical Chemistry Research Group works on fundamental and applied research projects in the field of chemical reaction engineering and chemical process engineering. Currently three major topics are in focus:
Membrane reactors

- hydrocarbon dehydrogenation, water gas shift reaction, and methane steam reforming in palladium composite membrane reactors
- direct hydroxylation of aromatics in a membrane reactor with distributed dosing of hydrogen and oxygen
- direct synthesis of hydrogen peroxide in a catalytic membrane contactor
Fuel cells
- carbon nanotubes and other innovative materials as catalyst supports for the DMFC
- novel anodes for biogas conversion in the SOFC
- development of a microstructured Zn/air fuel cell
Micro process engineering
- catalytic microreactors with transport through built-in membranes
