The DECHEMA-ForschungsInstitut, named Karl-Winnacker-Institut until end of February 2012, devites itself to research for sustainable technologies. The institute has a staff of approx. 80 who are involved in

• Basic and preindustrial research in Chemical Technology, Biotechnology, Environmental Technology, Chemical Engineering, and Materials Sciences
• Teaching activities at German universities in the fields mentioned above
• Continuing professional development courses for participants from industry and universities
• Scientific support for DECHEMA'S Technical Committees, Working Parties and conferences
• Development of solutions to industrial problems
